The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City has relaunched its online collection earlier this month with an additional 875 images of more than 600 couture dresses, shoes, accessories and other objects.
The idea of the online expansion has sprung from the museum’s about-to-be-released trilingual book, “Fashion Designers, A-Z: The Collection of The Museum at FIT,” which is based on fashion designers and their creations.
The recently upgraded e-museum’s collection includes images of silk corsets, satin ball gowns and ‘Mondrian’ dresses.
The e-museum has also introduced a search box, which will allow viewers to access previous collections with ease. Categories include menswear, accessories, 18th and 19th century clothing, and a host of apparel from other time periods.
