The famous actress Vera Farmiga is to play the role of Norman Bates’ mother in a new Psycho prequel.
The Up in the Air actress will lead the cast of new U.S. TV drama Bates Motel, which chronicles how Bates became Alfred Hitchcock’s serial killer.
They have ordered 10 episodes and plan to premiere the series in 2013. According to Deadline Vera Farmiga is the first of the two main roles to be cast.
In the classic 1960 thriller, Norman Bates murders single young women who check into the family motel while hiding the remains of his mother.
The role of Norman has yet to be cast.
